The picturesque cobblestone streets of the district of Paucarcolla, located facing Lake Titicaca, were filled with people during the 2011 Handicrafts Festival. The visit was totally worth it since everyone was full of admiration and pride because of the quality of the samples and accessories presented by their fellow countrywomen.
Unión Paucarcolla won 200 new soles for the best portfolio of samples, prize granted by the District Municipality, under Isaac Llanqui Condori, in order to encourage the active participation of the six artisan groups that Manuela Ramos supports in their community.
The work that was exhibited is a product of the training process undertaken by Manuela Ramos in the zone, aimed at attaining women’s economic autonomy and community development through handicrafts.
